Projects

ADM (Mat) manages an annual budget of $2.3 billion for capital expenditures and $2.4 billion for maintenance and upgrades. At any one time, Materiel Group staff is working on hundreds of projects, both large and small.

This section contains information on some high profile projects and is intended to be used by industry, other government departments and interested members of the general public.

PlanesAirlift Capability Project (Strategic): The Airlift Capability Project (Strategic) resulted in the procurement of four airlift aircraft to ensure that heavy equipment can be moved quickly to the various parts of the world where it is needed (in support humanitarian relief or other operations). Arctic IceArctic/Offshore Patrol Ship (PMO AOPS):  The PMO AOPS project has been established to deliver six to eight fully supported Arctic/Offshore Patrol Ships to assert and enforce sovereignty in Canada's waters including the Arctic. Read more


SoldiersCanadian Forces Nuclear Biological Chemical Decontamination System (CFNBCDS): The CFNBCDS project intends to give the Canadian Forces a 20-year operational and thorough CBRN decontamination capability. Read more






SoldierChemical Agents Sensors Project (Chem): The Chem project will provide the Canadian Forces with a modern capability to detect, monitor, sample, and identify chemical agents and toxic industrial chemicals (TIC) during international and domestic operations. Read more



CEMSClothing and Equipment – Millennium Standard (CEMS): The CEMS project will pursue operational Air Force clothing items that have appropriate performance and design features, are converged as much as possible with CF Army items, and are interoperable with allied clothing and equipment. Ship PMO FELEXHALIFAX Class Modernization/Frigate Life Extension (HCM/FELEX) Project: The HCM/FELEX Project will deliver a new command and control system, new radar capability, a new electronic warfare system and upgraded communications and missiles. Read more


ShipJoint Support Ship (JSS): The JSS project will enable a Naval Task Group to remain at sea for up to six times longer than is currently possible. These vessels will provide core replenishment capabilities, plus added capacity for sealift and increased support to troops ashore. Read more


Aircraft 802's first flightMaritime Helicopter Project (MHP): The Maritime Helicopter Project aims to replace the CH124 Sea Kings with a fleet of new maritime helicopters. Read more




Medium Support Vehicle SystemMedium Support Vehicle System Project (MSVS): The Medium Support Vehicle System Project aims to procure new medium-sized logistics trucks for the Canadian Forces. Read more




CH-47 ChinookMedium-to Heavy-Lift Helicopter Project (MHLH): A medium-to heavy-lift helicopter capability will allow the Canadian Forces to reach remote locations in a wider range of geographic areas and challenging environments inaccessible by ground-based transport or fixed-wing aircraft. Naval Improved Clothing and Equipment (NICE)Naval Improved Clothing and Equipment (NICE): The NICE project provides state-of-the-art operational clothing and equipment to Naval personnel to promote interoperability and permit the conduct of joint and combined operations around the world. Monocular Night Vision Google (MNVG)Unit Surveillance Target Acquisition Night Observation (Unit STANO): The Unit STANO project aims to deliver a modern 24-hour target detection, recognition, identification, and engagement capability to dismounted soldiers, particularly in support of operations at night and under conditions of reduced visibility. Close Combat Vehicle (CCV) Project: The CCV project will deliver an extremely well protected armoured vehicle to the Land Forces that is able to deliver a combat ready Canadian Army infantry section in close combat, while operating in intimate support of CF tanks. Read more


Integrated Soldier System Project (ISSP): The Integrated Soldier System Project will provide the soldier with an integrated suite of equipment that includes weapon accessories, electronic devices, sensors, individual equipment and operational clothing. Read more


Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle (TAPV): The TAPV project will deliver a wheeled combat vehicle that will fulfill a wide variety of roles domestically and on the battlefield, including but not limited to reconnaissance and surveillance, security, command and control, cargo, and armoured personnel carrier.
