The Security and Defence Forum is a National Defence grant program with a mandate to develop and support a domestic competence and national interest in defence issues of current and future relevance to Canada.
The Department of National Defence funds a series of scholarships and internships to foster interest in and knowledge of security and defence issues among young Canadian scholars. Past award recipients have addressed a wide range of topics of interest to the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Forces. Applicants are considered by an independent committee composed of academics and non-academic representatives selected by the Minister of National Defence. Applicants will be assessed on academic merit, and the relevance of the application to Canadian security and defence.
The number of awards will vary depending upon the number of candidates and the quality of the applications.
Award winners are typically invited to National Defence Headquarters for a day of briefing on defence issues and have an opportunity to not only meet defence officials, but their colleagues from across the country as well.
Application Deadline
