5 Wing/CFB Goose Bay

There were 50 regular military, 12 reserve Class A, B, and C forces, and 42 civilian workers at 5 Wing/CFB Goose Bay at the end of March 2010.

Present Functions

The current functions of 5 Wing/CFB Goose Bay are to provide support to:

  • The Goose Bay Allied Military Training In Canada (GAMTIC) Program for the German Air Force and the Italian Air Force by acting as an on-site “agent” for the various Allies.
  • A Canadian Deployed Operating Base (DOB) of CF-18s operationally committed to NORAD

  • German Air Force Tactical Training Support Group
  • Royal Air Force Unit
