MOSID  00334-02 - Medical Technician - Physician Assistant (MED TECH - PA)

General Duties:

The general duties and functions of the MED TECH - PA are to support the CF Health Care system, by providing clinical care/ services in emergency care, and primary care, through delegation by a physician. They are employed in static (large centres and remote areas) as well as during deployments in support of field, at sea, and air ops. They also provide

  • preventive medicine education,
  • basic facilities inspections with respect to health and safety issues, and
  • medical administration.

7. Cope with the stress of providing care to the ill and injured for extended periods of time with little/no medical supervision during emergency situations such as mass casualties, and while employed in independent duties. X X X
8. Walk long distances over rough and uneven terrain for extended periods of time while wearing PPE, carrying personal weapon, personal supplies, and medical kit bag. X X X
9. Work wearing CBRN equipment for extended period of times (12 hrs and over). X X X
10. Work standing for extended periods (4 to 6 hours) of time and/or walk for periods up to 12 hrs per day. X X X
11. Climb, stoop, bend, and crawl in confined spaces. X X X
12. Drive service vehicles under low/no light conditions, in all weather and ground conditions.   X X
13. Handle heavy ship-borne fire fighting equipment while wearing a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus.   X X
