Replace Existing Systems with Newer or Different System

The Secure Radio sub-project will examine the algorithm modernization requirement and identify legacy secure radios that will require cryptographic modernization upgrading or replacement.

Under this sub-project of Defence Cryptographic Modernization Project (Defence CMP), deliverables will include the replacement of legacy VINSON and Advanced Narrowband Digital Voice cryptographic devices as well as affected legacy handheld and man pack secure radios. During the implementation phase, this project will replace or modernize secure radios identified as in scope for this project. In addition, this sub-project will ensure that any new Department of National Defence projects for secure radios adhere to the standards established by the Defence CMP. It could also include acquisition of modernization kits for affected secure radios on mobile platforms (yet to be determined). In addition, new Communication Security keying equipment and fill devices may need to be procured.
