DAG 2016 - Land Systems Services

Soldier System 2030

Replace Existing Systems with Newer or Different System

Objective

Soldier System 2030 will leverage future achievements of the Canadian Army’s soldier system development, as well as ongoing rleated research to develop a top-to-bottom integrated suite of soldier tools. This project will deliver the necessary components of soldier systems to achieve a light, networked and integrated soldier.

Requirements

Soldier System 2030 will leverage projected advancements in dismounted combat technologies from projects as varied as the Integrated Soldier System, Future Combat Uniform, Sniper Systems and Small Arms Modernization. These capabilities will be considered as the baseline and their high-level mandatory requirements will be updated to reflect technological developments since their conception to match available technology in the projected timeframe. It is anticipated that soldier technology research efforts into such areas as scalable/modular protective equipment, real-time health monitoring, targeting handoff, and load distribution system with power regeneration capability will be developed into commercially-viable products by the defence industry to meet the challenges of the future operating environment. As well, multi-functionality, comfort, and ease of operations/maintenance will be sought where possible.
