To establish a common shipboard networking baseline, develop subject matter experts and put in place the framework, infrastructure and process required to leverage emerging technologies such as virtualisation, service oriented architecture and cloud computing.

The framework developed through the Virtual Integrated Shipboard Information Networks will deliver high-availability, mission critical network capabilities interoperable with allies and Other Government Departments at a sustainable pace. The project will ensure that new technologies are consistently leveraged to significantly reduce the cost and effort required to maintain networking capabilities.
