Naval Engineering Test Establishment
The Department of National Defence tests naval equipment to ensure engineering safety and effectiveness.The Naval Engineering Test Establishment (NETE) is the Royal Canadian Navy’s (RCN) principal test and evaluation centre. NETE supports the RCN from coast to coast by providing independent and expert test and evaluation services for naval equipment, combat and control systems, as well as information and communication systems.
NETE has been operating since 1953. The test establishment is a Government-Owned-Contractor-Operated (GOCO) organization, headquartered in Lasalle, Quebec with detachments in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Esquimalt, British Columbia. The facilities and services of NETE are also available to the private sector under certain conditions. NETE is an ISO 9001 and 14001 certified establishment.

- Marine Systems (MS)
- Combat and Control Systems (CCS)
- Testing and Infrastructure Support (TIS)
