Naval information and communication systems

The Information and Communication Systems (ICS) section provides investigation, evaluation, testing, and Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) for information and communication systems used on ships. This section also provides these services for information and communications systems used on shore directly or indirectly supporting the ships and submarines. Similar work can be performed to support central and common systems.

The increasing prevalence of Internet Protocol (IP) communications in all forms of equipment and systems continues to broaden the potential scope of projects where the ICS section can help the Navy and DND, sometimes in collaboration with the NETE Marine Systems or Combat Systems sections when marine/combat equipment includes information or communication sub-systems.

The members of the section include a diverse mix of engineers, computer science graduates and information technology specialists, some with previous Naval or DND experience, many with numerous years supporting the Navy at NETE, and others with recent industry experience. The combination of different backgrounds and skills is key to the section’s success in meeting client requirements.
