Completed Projects

1. Syncrolift Upgrade

The Syncrolift Upgrade Project provides Fleet Maintenance Facility Cape Scott with the capability to perform maintenance on two vessels at the same time. The Syncrolift, a platform fitted with winches and powered by a motor to lift vessels in and out of the water, is designed to accommodate either a surface warship or submarine. In addition, the shore maintenance facility can accommodate a submarine. These initiatives accommodate DND's current Victoria-class submarines, which are wider and higher than the Oberon-class submarines that were used at the time the original maintenance facilities were built.

Value: Approx. $47 million (Overall project cost, including taxes)

2. Crash Barriers and Vehicle Search Area - CFAD Bedford

This project will provide additional security restraints to better manage access to the explosive area. This project includes the installation of crash barriers, and minor infrastructure including a pull-over zone, small parking area, and closed circuit television system modifications.

Value: Approx. $2.1 million (Overall project cost, including taxes)
