1. New LAV III Facility

This infrastructure, valued at $21.8 million, supports the LAV III Upgrade Project, which was announced in July 2009 and aims to upgrade the fleet by improving the protection, mobility and lethality of the vehicle while maximizing command support and human interface factors.

2. Construction of a New Hangar to Chinooks

The new 50,000m2 hangar will consist of five main components including 1st and 2nd line maintenance bays, CAE and Boeing training schools, a backshop and warehouse, and a Department of National Defence Command Suite.

3. Equipment Fielding Coordination Centre

The Equipment Fielding Coordination Centre (EFCC) is a 1222 m2 building with an additional 3798 m2 of exterior parking space. The EFCC provides 2 Area Support Unit Petawawa with much needed infrastructure that includes office, maintenance, storage, training, and parking space. This building will provide suitable, sustainable infrastructure for the operational requirements of units.

4. Medium-to-Heavy Lift Helicopter Training Accommodations

The first of the training accommodation facilities will provide 97 rooms of additional accommodations for CFB Petawawa to alleviate accommodation shortages at the base. The building is based on the “Yukon Lodge” prototype design used for accommodations buildings at CFB Wainwright, Trenton, and Kingston.

The second accommodations facility will provide 99 additional accommodation rooms to support the Medium-to-Heavy Lift Helicopter program. This building will also be based on the “Yukon Lodge” prototype design used for accommodations buildings at CFB Wainwright, Trenton, and Kingston.

1. Joint Personnel Support Unit Building

This new building, 443.46 m2, will house the nine Regional Element staff of the JPSU Eastern Ontario Region who have been working in a temporary location since 2009. As the Regional Element for all the Integrated Personnel Support Centres for Eastern Ontario Region, including Petawawa, Ottawa, Trenton, Kingston, and Petawawa-Satellite North Bay, this new building will allow staff to provide the necessary support for ill and injured Canadian Forces personnel, former personnel, their families and the families of the deceased.
