W.D. (Bill) Mahoney, OMM, CD – Biography

CFLC Newfoundland and Labrador Chair

Mr. Mahoney is the owner of a group of companies in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador related to the real estate and tourism sectors. He is the president/owner of Regal Realty Limited, a St. John's based commercial real estate company, the Murray Premises Hotel Inc., Community Properties Limited, and St. Johns Executive Suites.

He is the former owner and president of Community Cable Limited and Andromeda Cablevision, cable television companies serving rural areas of Newfoundland and Labrador.

In 2004 Mr. Mahoney retired from the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves having served for 26 years; however, he continues to be a member of many military and civic organizations. Currently, he is Chairman of the St. John's International Airport Authority, the St. John's Downtown Development Commission and The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Historical Society. He is a former director of the John Howard Society and a current director of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, the Community Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Irish Newfoundland Business Partnership and as well, is a member of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment Advisory Council and the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association.

He has been recognized by many charities and service organizations for his contribution to the community including a Paul Harris Fellowship by Rotary International and has, also, received a Certificate of Honour from the Air Cadet League of Canada for his continued support of the Air Cadet Movement in this province. He has received the Canadian Armed Forces Decoration; and in December 1995, Mr. Mahoney was invested as a Officer in the Order of Military Merit. Most recently, he as privileged to be appointed as a Honorary Inspector with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
