"The Health and Wellness Challenge provides an easy and fun way for everyone, regardless of their habits and activity level, to examine the everyday choices they make that impact their wellness. Broken down to that level, it becomes easy to see how one can make small changes that lead to tremendous long-term benefits."

Get motivated!

Taking care of your back is a smart long term investment! Many Canadians will experience lower back pain at some time in their life and for some people the pain can significantly reduce their quality of life.  The good news is that many of these cases can be prevented by doing regular core strengthening exercises and using safe lifting techniques.  Lifting with your legs straight and your back flexed forward puts a great deal of stress on the discs in your back.  When excessively stressed, these discs will eventually break down and long term problems will begin.  When you go to lift things from the ground, ensure that you keep the curve in your lower back, you bend your knees and you do most of the lifting with your leg muscles.  Practicing safe lifting could save you from a lifetime of pain.
