Today: Since leaving National Defence in 2000, Larisa has worked at the Treasury Board Secretariat, Public Safety Canada, and the Privy Council Office. She is now the Director General of Admissibility at Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

Larisa said: “I still have such clear memories of each of my rotations, and how much I learned at every turn”.

Why Larisa recommends the PORP:

“I would absolutely recommend the Program to anyone who wants to start a career in the Public Service by learning the basics in one of the most interesting and complex work environments that this country has to offer.  And once you have the basics down, the Public Service provides innumerable opportunities to do meaningful, interesting work.”

Highlights of her favourite experiences in the PORP:

  • Travelling to military bases across Canada and overseas to see how the military operates and the contributions it makes to the local community and the global community.
  • Working closely with senior officials: During her time in the Directorate of Parliamentary Affairs, Larisa worked very closely with the offices of the Chief of the Defence Staff, the Deputy Minister, and other senior officials in order to prepare them for testimony relating to a "Quality of Life" study before Parliamentary committees.
