Backgrounder / February 5, 2014 / Project number: BG - 14.004

A key component of the Defence Procurement Strategy is the new Defence Acquisition Guide that will ensure Canadian industry is better positioned to deliver equipment and services for the Canadian Armed Forces. This guide will be published on an annual basis, and National Defence intends to publish its initial version in 2014 in consultation with PWGSC and Industry Canada.

The guide will identify the list of procurement projects expected to be developed over 5, 10, 15 and 20 year timeframes, and include projects over $100M and those of lower value that have leveraging potential for Canadian Industry.

This information and the government’s related engagement with industry will enable Canadian industry and potential bidders to make informed research and development investments and strategic partnering decisions. This will help Canadian industry to be better positioned to compete for future Canadian and international defence procurement opportunities.
