Photo gallery - 100 Images from Afghanistan

The Department of National Defence unveiled 100 photographs of select moments from the Canadian Armed Forces mission in Afghanistan between 22 December 2013 and 31 March 2014 (one photo each day). The photo gallery demonstrates memorable events, milestones and various aspect of Canada’s military mission in Afghanistan.

The Canadian Armed Forces have conducted operations in Afghanistan for more than 12 years in a number of different roles involving air, land and sea assets. CAF activities included combat, security, development, support and training operations in varying capacities and regions in Afghanistan.

Since the beginning of the mission, there have been over 50,000 deployments to Afghanistan, making the military engagement the largest deployment of CAF personnel since the Second World War. While the Canadian military presence is ending, Canada is committed to supporting the people of Afghanistan beyond 2014. In addition to development assistance, Canada will continue to support Afghanistan diplomatically through its embassy in Kabul and financially to sustain the Afghan national security.
