The Canadian Forces Health Services (CFHS) requires its members to provide health care in garrison and on operations. With the closure of CF Hospitals in the 1990's, the military health care system no longer supported an environment for military health care professionals to obtain practical experience. This necessitated the establishment of a Maintenance of Clinical Skills Program (MCSP) where members maintain their competencies and currencies both within and outside the military milieu.

* A TTY is a special device that lets people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech-impaired use the telephone to communicate, by allowing them to type messages back and forth to one another instead of talking and listening. A TTY is required at both ends of the conversation in order to communicate.
