Land force ready to help too
The Army is ready to lend a hand on Christmas Eve as well, thanks to a recent meeting between Brigadier-General Christian Barabé, commander of Land Force Quebec Area and Joint Task Force (Eastern) and 3 Wing Bagotville commander, Colonel Pierre Ruel. The two leaders met at 3 Wing recently to go over their joint operation.
“This year, I will ensure that Santa has access to support on the ground so that every child living in my area will receive his or her presents. Sometimes, when the roofs are small, the sleigh cannot land. My specialists who are on call promise to provide good support so that Santa can land on each roof,” confirmed BGen Barabé.
It was in this spirit of co-operation, as the holidays draw near, that the meeting between BGen Barabé and Col Ruel took place. “Once again, we’re working with our modernized CF-18 fighter aircraft, within a joint force context. This co-operative exercise shows to what extent we are effective at fulfilling our NORAD role together with our troops on the ground,” said Col Ruel.
The leaders believe that co-operation between Santa, NORAD and 3 Wing Bagotville, LFQA and JTF (Eastern) will make it possible for many more children to have a nice holiday at home with their families, and several presents and toys under the tree.
Col Ruel joins BGen Barabé in wishing all of you and your families a happy holiday season.
