Standing sentry at the National War Memorial

Ceremonial Guard member MCpl Sean Neifer posts the first-ever sentries at Canada’s National War Memorial. Standing before the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the soldiers began the new duty on the Canada Day weekend. Guards are now posted at the monument in Ottawa every day from 9am to 5pm, until the end of August. Their presence reminds Canadians that this is a site of national significance that must be treated with dignity and reverence.
