Context
The third annual Halifax International Security Forum (the Forum) took take place from November 18th to 20th in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This prestigious international event, staged in Canada, brought together key thinkers, policymakers, and practitioners from like-minded nations around the world to discuss ideas and share insights on important global security challenges. The Department of National Defence (DND) and Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) are proud to continue their financial support of the Forum.
From the Americas to Asia, from the economy to emerging threats, the Forum fosters frank and informal discussions on issues that define our time. Topics for this year included changes to the security environment since 9/11, the impact of fiscal restraint on security, and the future of the transatlantic alliance, as well as emerging issues such as the future of Israel-Palestine relations and the (post-) revolution environment in Libya. Panel discussions were streamed live on the Halifax International Security Forum website (http://halifaxtheforum.org/) and broadcast on Cable Public Affairs Channel (CPAC).
